SoHo — short for South Howard Avenue — is the energetic, dining-and-nightlife heart of South Tampa, nestled within the larger Hyde Park area about three miles south of downtown. Locals call its main strip “Restaurant Row” for good reason: the corridor is packed with upscale eateries, lively bars, coffee shops, and boutiques, including Tampa institutions like Bern’s Steak House. By day it’s relaxed and walkable; after dark it becomes one of the city’s premier social destinations.
One of SoHo’s quiet advantages is convenience. The neighborhood is compact and landlocked, which keeps everything close together — many residents can walk to Publix, restaurants, and shops within minutes. Tree-lined residential streets sit just off the main avenue, blending historic bungalows with modern new builds.
Housing here is varied. Closer to the avenue you’ll find condos and townhomes with garage parking and renters drawn to the walkability; one-bedrooms generally start in the mid-$200,000s, while two- to three-bedroom townhomes toward Bayshore can run higher. Farther south, detached single-family homes with private yards command premium prices.
SoHo is lively, which is a feature for some and a consideration for others — proximity to nightlife can mean more activity and noise on weekends, especially closer to the main strip.
